Meet our Founder, Jen

Jen Spencer began her career in advertising, but quickly recognized that the smart, passionate leaders in her fast-paced industry were in need of some creative solutions for their unique challenges. As such, The Creative Executive was born out of the idea that people are the driving force behind powerful brands and successful companies, and these same people are the solution to addressing and resolving organizational challenges. Leveraging her matching expertise, Jen started Jen Spencer Coaches in 2007 with the intent of helping people see past their current situations and see what was possible. Utilizing frameworks such as Adult Learning Theory, Leadership Circle Profile, Neuroscience/Brain-based coaching, Systems and Design Thinking, and drawing from her intuition and personal experience as a creative executive, Jen helped creative leaders navigate, find their center, and thrive in their careers. In 2013, she rebranded as The Creative Executive and built The Creative Executive Method®.

Jen believes that sustainable success, whether at a company or individual level, is based on a foundation of strategic talent development and engagement. The Creative Executive coaches, trainers, and facilitators are passionate about helping legacy leaders stay engaged as their companies grow, and also help pave the way for the next generation of distinguished executives. Every client and their unique challenges are assessed through a leadership lens, with an emphasis on five core attributes: growth, people, integrity, strategy, and results.

Jen has been a matchmaker all her life, believing that amazing things happen when the right people, ideas, and resources are able to come together. She believes that matching the right expert or team of experts to the right people is essential to getting the most out of any organization for long-term success. The Creative Executive designs engagements specifically for your organization in order to address your specific needs, challenges, and visions. Jen and the team at The Creative Executive work with each client to co-create engagements and exercises so clients maximize their existing workforce while developing a path for viable success.

Creating Leadership for a New Working World

In addition to managing operations and finances, Jen drives The Creative Executive’s relationship building and strategic decision-making.  As she cultivates her growing business, Jen supports her team of executive coaches with vision, agile leadership, and a drive for discovery. Without any notice, 2020 forced our workplaces to evolve into hybrid teams of in-person and virtual, and we learned how to do the same job in a new way. The Creative Executive seamlessly pivoted to all virtual services and has received outstanding client feedback. Jen and her team are leading the discussion on how organizations and teams can meet this challenge, yet maintain their business’ integrity, stewardship, and vision. 

Jen is a native Texan who’s lived all over, and is an active member of the creative community. She curated and launched the premier years of TEDxAustin as a co-executive producer. She has also presented at SXSW and CreativeMornings/Austin, and served on the programming committee for Culturati Summit. Jen currently lives in Austin with her husband, an advertising creative director, and their son. She received her B.A. in sociology and women’s studies from Boston College, and holds certifications from Leadership Circle Profile, Results Coaching Systems (now The Neuroleadership Group), and Team Coaching International.
